So far memorex -R 4x disks work on my computer and on others regular dvd players, but not my ps2. Is this common, and is it just the format that is causing this? (+R's have worked on my ps2, but not on others regular dvd players) Others I have tried are verbatim digital movie +R, sony +RW, and TDK +R, none with results that played on my ps2, computer, and others regular dvd players.

    smyle1977,

My first thought is player compatibility. But your verbatim digital +R's should play on at least your pc and standalone.

    So ...
    1) Memorex -R's will play on pc and standalone players, but not on your PS2
    2) Memorex? +R's will play on PS2, but not standalones(will they play on your pc?)
    3) Verbatim Digital +R', Sony +RW and TDK +R won't play on anything <- Is this right?

First check your players compatibility here:

Second, Can you post the programs your using and the steps?

memorex -R not on ps2, but on comp and others standalones
verbatim +r yes on ps2 and computer, but not on others standalones
    TDK'S +R not on others stanalones,and not on ps2

I'm using 321 platinum, mainly simple version and only copying the movie, not the extras. Using 4 speed disks, whether it be + or -. Thinking maybe I should just get the ritek (spelled right) and see if that saves the trouble. Or at least try the verbatim -R's.

hmmm ... Is your burner's firmware up to date? What burner do you have? Also what version of Platinum are you using? Last, do you have Nero?

One thing you could try is using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter to see if those programs produce a backup that will play on all three players.

sorry for the delay, on vacation to settle my nerves from burning! My firmware is up to date, I am using a digital research dual format burner, I do have nero version 5.5, and I am about to start trying to use shrink and decrypter to backup my movies and see how that goes, along with using verbatim digital movie -R's. I am planning on using 4 speed disks, but should I set the parameters to lower to improve quality? And do you know of any black lists with shrink? Or is it just with 321? Thank you for your time and info with this. It's saving my some of my hair from being pulled out from finding out all by myself and sinking even more money and time!
