Currently my motherboard is running ddr2 800 memory because that is what is stated as the highest it can handel in the manual and ddr2-800 is writen next to the memory slots but today while i was looking through the bios I found the dram frequency option and one of the choices was 533 MHz which is what DDR2-1066 runs at so i was wondering if my mobo could run ddr2-1066 memory. Mobo:Nvidia nforce 630a-geforce 7050
I understand that but 533 doubled is 1066 which is what ddr2 1066 basicly is so my question is if i bought a ddr2 1066 memory module would it work in my motherboard
No, because when your motherboard says 533 it means it, 266 doubled = 533. That is what it refers to, not 1066.
But the options are 200,266,333,400 an 533 and the supported ones are ddr2 400,533,667, and 800 so the last one must be ddr2 1066
Hmm fair enough. I suspect it may be a speed that isn't officially supported but is included for overclocking purposes.
