If a memory(DRAM) module has not passed a compatibility test with the motherboard does it give you a balck screen on the monitor with nothing happening.I'm gettin' long intermittent beeps and thats it from my motherboard and processor. The motherboard and processor are compatible I've checked. It's an AMD Sempron 2200 processor with an AOpen vkm266pm motherboard with DDR 333 memory which it can carry. I have been onto the Aopen website and printed off a DDR Compatibilty Test sheet and can't find my Model or IC No. anywhere on it will this be the problem???Save me buyin' another module or forkin' out more dough unnecessarily. 4 hours i've messed about checkin' everythin' and it's all in correct so the beeps tell me it's a DRAM ERROR is this true???? [bold]PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!![/bold]
I thought maybe I had the same issue when upgrading my RAM, tried to boot but only beeps. The problem turned out to be the memory not being fully seated although I thought it was. Just a tiny fraction of an inch more and it was fully seated and booted fine. Although you should avoid forcing your RAM in the MOBO to prevent damage to either of them, some can be slightly difficult(ok really difficult) to get fully seated.
What brand of memory is it? ALWAYS GO WITH NAME BRANDED...I have learned the hard way lets just say...it does seem like a seeting issue though.
