Hi, i've been having a problem for the last month now. Every now and then, usually at start-up, a process called svchost.exe starts eating up tons of memory. It usually bring along with it wuauclt.exe. They both use tons of memory to the point where i can't use the computer until they're done doing what they're doing, which sometimes takes 30mins. THey never bother my CPU though, if that's any help. I once killed svchost and my interface went to what looked like windows95. So i guess it has something to do with rendering the interface? So my question is, how do i stop them from eating up memory without harming any necessary function. Thanks to those who help

Thanks for the reply. I know that svchost manages DLLs, but i don't understand why it must all of a sudden eat so much RAM.
