I just perchased 4 gb 2x2 ocz sli ready memory. i had 2 gb before. i rate my vista machine and the memory marks a 5.2. which is the same as the old no brand memory. did i miss something here?
what is the speed of the ram and what re the timings. adding more ram will not make your score go up automatically. the new ram needs to be faster and have better timings.if you can overclock the memory you should be aable to get your score up.
Adding memory won't increase your vista performance score, but it will improve the performance of your PC. The Vista experience rating does not concern memory above 4GB, and only really benches the CPU, drives and Graphics.
Although on paper Windows 32 bit operating systems including Vista can use 4 gigabytes in practice they can't address more than 3 Gigabytes of memory. Here is a site that offers a reasonable explanation and a fix, but you'll have to get your hands a bit dirty. http://www.ocmodshop.com/ocmodshop.aspx?a=989
Good heavens, Soph has returned! That's an interesting guide, I suffer from the 32-bit 4GB limitations myself, so I may have to have a read.
oh one other thing. i just reinstalled vista 64 on the dell 410 and the old memory marks at 5.5. yet on this new build it marked 5.2
ok i turned off the sli and now i get a 5.6. yet the timings are 6 6 6 18. while on sli they were 5 4 4 15 which is the advertise timings.
