    I need to merge 2 xvid files together. I get the VBR error in VDub so I used Nandub. But when I try to append them together I get "audio streams have different data formats" error. anyway to get around this?

    cad,

    Follow these easy steps.
    1. Open VirtualDub
    2. Input the first .avi
    3. Under video select "direct stream copy" and under audio select "full processing mode"
    4. save the new .avi
    5. Input the second .avi and repeat steps 3 and 4.
    6. Now both your .avis will have the same streams and you can merge them as usual.

    Enjoy!

    @DVDBack23,

    Avi files converted from wmv. For some reason virtualdub won't accept them :(.

    If you get a popup about asf's and Microsoft patents then you don't have avi's. VirtualDub MPEG2 I believe has updated asf/wmv support.
