Ok, so I just got a notice from Comcast about Copyright Infringement. Somehow they say that I was "Downloading Copyrighted Material Illegaly" First off, I own the game just can't find it. (I know some of you don't believe it) so I was downloading it to replace it. It's Mercenaries, but comcast sent me an email about copyright infringement saying that BitTorrent was the cause or somethin. So yeah, thats kinda messed up. If they know I'm using a BitTorrent program, what else do they know about me? It's like they're spying on everyone!
Use a program called "PeerGuardian2"! It blocks IP addresses that are known Copyright\Govt searchers! It's a free program and is updated everyday or so!
Yeah they are spying on all of us..turn encryption on as well.. They have a point.. While you are legally entitled to make a backup of a game or software/film..whatever you have bought..you do not have the same right to download it.. The reason is.. Whilst you may very well own the said item the copy you download isn't a copy of YOUR software.. It's a copy of somebody elses which breaks the "multiple simultaneous use" regulations in the software licence you or they own... It's like a book..you can make as many copies of it as you like..as long as you only read one at a time......
YES jan is corrcet..SO smart!! This is why the closed down eDonkey it was a great p2p site but yea many people were doing the things that jan said so they closed it down..
It will protect you from torrents! Also, LimeWire was breached about 2 months ago, use at your own peril, thay are recording your IP and they ARE prosecuting!
crap! they got limewire? Damn, thats what I use all the time. Well I'll have to find something else then.
i am with chunkhead on this one "Use a program called "PeerGuardian2"! " anyone who uses any sort of download program should have this installed and running on their system!!! Things like Limewire are the absolute worst programs you could use unless you really want to get out into jail. Most people leave it to the default which sets up a share folder. So anyone who gets the stuff from your folder can easily track it right back to where it came from. U-Torrent and Azureus are probably the best two programs to use. But PG2 and a good firewall is a must.
Well I don't leave it to save to a default folder. Can they still track me? And what else is there that I can use to download music? just torrent programs?
LimeWire tracks your IP address. The Authorities now have access to ALL IP addresses that LimeWire uses. If you download "Illegal" content, they grap your IP, which they trace to your service provider, who'll be only to happy to tell them who you are, your address, phone number, bank account details, etc. Try this site... http://www.phazemp3.com/
