TOOLS OR SOFTWARES: WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER,TMPGENC,DVDLAB PROJECT: To capture 8mm tapes using Digital8 camcorder I started capturing video manually,as I remember according to your response was not to use WMV format in the export option..(How do you do that?) but to captures files as DV AVI files..Now the captured files that I have an extension WMV.Do you mean I should have an extension AVI right after I captured manually .Now that I have a captured files with an extension WMV files I will convert this using TMPGENC by selecting UNDER "FILE" then select "OUTPUT TO FILE" then I have an option like MPEG,AVI etc.(Am I right track here??..Do I make any changes on DVDLAB settings? or just leave it default?...Thank you very much to your help I really appreciated your times responding,.
If you can not get Movie Maker to export the File as an "AVI" file then you should try useing different software because the encodeing to WMV format just lowers the Quality.... After captureing the AVI files should be stored on your Hard drive so just use those file and don"t use Movie Maker to render the files at all just use it to capture and if you need to do some editing then use something else..... You should really be useing Proper Capture/Editing Software for your Footage and not useing the Crappy Assed Movie Maker...Something like "Adobe Premier 7" or "Vegas Video 4/5" or even "Studio 9" would be better than Movie Maker.....Avid has a Freeware Capture and editing Program called "Avid Free DV" if you do a search for it you might be able to find it...I tried it but It was too buggy but maybe you will have better luck......Cheers
