Hey folks! My name is Owen. I am new here! I am from Australia and I am just getting into this whole video editing scene. I have sony handycam. So far I have been finalising my mini-dvds and trying to extract workable video and audio from .vob files which hs been a NIGHTMARE. If only I'd known to use the cable instead! What's worse is that I am using adobe premiere on a PC with a 1.4 ghz processor so it likes to crash! But amidst all this tweaking and tinkering I have managed to make my pc unable to play mpegs anymore! I don't know how I did it. maybe it happened when I uninstalled a media player I didn't want, I don't know. You see, I installed xvid, Nimo, everything and now my silly pc wont play the most common of formats, Mpeg. If there is anyway I can show you guys a list of what codecs or important system files I have installed please let me know because hopefully one of you will be able to help me make my stupid pc play mpegs again, or if there is an easier way please let me know it will be GREATLY appreciated. Have a great one... Owen.
Well all I can suggest is to Install a Mpeg Codec and see if it will Work, If you Install a Software DVD Player Like PowerDVD or WinDVD it will Install all the Mpeg-1/2 and Dolby Codecs for Playing back Mpeg-1/2 and Vob files.... As for your Problem with Editing VOB files with Adobe Premier maybe you should use a Different Editor , One that doesn"t suck up as many PC resources, and Premier isn"t really meant for editing VOB files because it will have to re-encode the files when it outputs the edited file which takes a lot of Time and Lowers the Quality that is why for editing VOB files or any type of Mpeg file you should use a Native Mpeg editor which will allow you to edit and add effect and Transitions to your Files without haveing to re-encode the whole file when outputing the edited file which means the rendering only takes a few minuted as opposed to many hours like when useing edirors like Adobe premier.... One of the Best Native Mpeg editors is called "Womble Mpeg Video Wizard 2005" and it uses up much less Resources on your PC than premier does and there won"t be any Quality loss when editing and it will render in minutes..... You could allways Upgrade your PC to a faster one...It is a Lot cheaper than you might think especially if you do it yourself , For about $150 US you could upgrade your PC to somewere close to 3.0ghz ,There are deals all over the Net for Cheap Motherboard & CPU Combos in the $100 to $200 range.... Just something to think about.... Cheers
