I have 12 matroska files that I need to make playable in a stand alone dvd/divx/xvid player. After doing a search and reading postings on the forum I thought it would be no problem. Each file is has a regular audio stream plus a directors commentary stream. Video inspector shows that the underlying Video Codec used is xvid and the codec gets a tick. The audio codec is shown as AAC HE and it is not ticked. Doing a direct stream on virtualdubmod gives me an .avi file with no audio but when I play the original .mkv file using VLC player I have audio. I have dl'ed countless audio codec packages that supposedly contain the AAC HE codec but it makes no difference, no tick on video inspector audio codec, no audio on .avi file, and perfect audio on computer. Trying to demux the streams on virtualDubMod gives a .wav file with no sound. Can anyone help please?
You might be best re-encoding the files. There's a freeware encoder that will convert mkv. to xvid: http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=SUPER_1
