hi there people, i just downloaded final fantasy advent children from http://www.shinsen-subs.org/, it was a torrent vtw, any way i have a question, i know how to convert ogm movies ontp psp, and im assuking the process should be similiar for .mkv files, now im not sure what the problem is here, so ill stast everything, ive see.

ok as i mentioned i got FFAC from http://www.shinsen-subs.org/ and there are 2 types of encodes of the file dl, there is one which they made in .avi and one which they did in mkv but its not a norm .mkv file, its a H264 encode. I got the movie to play fine and all cos a moderator there old me to download cccp (from the linbk mentioned below) in it it contains media player classic and all these other codecs and all. here is the link where i got it from http://www.kickassanime.org/wiki/index.php?title=Compack

yuh if you want to find out waht H264 is recommensd asking the people in their forums at http://www.shinsen-subs.org/

anyway so i tried to open up this file in virtual dub and i got this message, (Only handle[S_TEXT/] subs for the moment)

moment ???, doe that mean there is a plugin which i can dl sumwhere where it will allow me to actually open up this file is virtual dub, if there is something i need to do or dl which will allow me to open up this file in virtual dub, can someone please tell me... it would be much appreciated.

im sorry if i rambled 2 much i just wanted to fully show waht i have encountered.

Not a normal mkv? What exactly is a normal mkv?

Only handle[S_TEXT/] subs for the moment, suggests that the mkv uses vobsubs. You can demux with mkvextract.

vdub's mkv support is out of date. From recollection there is even a warning telling you so when you first run it.

mkv files can be more complex than ogm's. You can always demux an ogm's video stream to avi and it is always CFR (Constant Frame Rate). mkv's on the other hand can be VFR (Variable Frame Rate) and can store video in native, non avi compatible forms. For instance the prefered, spec compliant way to store AVC/h.264 video in mkv is natively, this means that when you demux you get a raw 264 stream.

I got a trouble because of this. I got a mkv with a h.264 encoded video track with VFR feature and when I use mkvextract, video and audio have [bold]different[/bold] lenghts (maybe because mkvextract demux the video track with CFR?). When I mux the tracks again, video and audio are desinchronized.

When I open the mkv with VirtualDubMod it displays the following msg:

[!] MKV: The video may have a variable framerate. If so we strongly advise you to use another tool to safely process your file.

What is the way for open this file for edition? It is possible to convert the video track to CFR without take desynchronization with the audio track? Maybe reencoding it to another format like XviD?

hi there, your problem seems quite strange to me, but how are you choosing your subs and audio through VLC what options are you going through to select them.

also try going here http://www.cccp-project.net/ and downloading combined community codec pack.

then run your mkv through media player classic which comes with cccp.

then once you open and play your mkv through Media Player Classic select your audio and subtitles by clicking on the tab called navigate and select which ones you want to view.

try this method X-10A_SIC and lemme know how things work out.
