I'm trying to burn AVCHD from MVK to play with my standalone Panasonic BD-30 BluRay player. I'm using TSmuxerGUI and IMG burn. I'm useing this guide: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_mkv_to_avchd_for_ps3_and_blu-ray.cfm I can't get it to work, i'm burning and muxing accurate as described. My BluRay player is reading the disk, but it won't start playing. There's a black screen with "READING" in the right corner of the screen. I can however get into the soundmenu to the disk and selest between the options. Can anybody help me with whats wrong? The player supports AVCHD format. Thanks
Hi mate, I think we may have similar problems. I've just tried to author my first AVCHD disk from an MKV source using this guide and get the disk to play back no problems (at least with the audio) but ALSO i get no video. Hoping this is either an issue with the labelling of the streams on the disk or somesuch rather than an encoding issue but I guess we'll see. I have a similar thread to yours running so check that and I'll keep an eye on this one. Hopefully someone out there has a Panny playing AVCHD disks from MKV sources! regards. Bob.
I just found out that if the AVCHD file is exatly 1080P or 720P resolution it works. If the resolution is eks 1400x622 or someting like that the BD player wont play it. If the resolution is 1920x1080 workes.
Odd resolutions like 1400x622 for instance, works on PS3 but you get a green bar below the picture. Most likely where the black stripes over and below the picture sholud be.
umm, my source is a straight rip from 720p source so not sure why its not working.... guess i'll have to hope someone has a suggestion of something else to try. thanks anyways.
to play back on the panasonic bd players you must make sure that the resolution is either 1920x1080 or 1280x720. to accomplish this you need to use the "addborders" command in an avs file then use megui to convert it. if you check out this thread ( http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/639346 )it is where i got all my info. also you can check out my latest thread ( http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/735919 ) where i have the basic workflow i use and it will get you a head start... thanks James
