hi bought a aerial mmds off 1 of the main suppilers done a test and found no signal im in cork city not far from the transponders i have a original on the roof that works fine.its the long pointed aerial not the mesh ones.and if they do a key roll on mmds could we get the key data as before.
omega if youre box has the latest firmware on it you have no need to worry as it will auto roll, all the latest firmware can be found on 4shared files.com (in eamos library)
That ariel (pointy one) downconverts the signal at a much higher frequeny than the standard chxxus ariel, if you have not got a linux based box that you can ftp diff scanning files to, you wil have to manually scan each transponder. For chxxus mmds, start at 658mHz and add 8 for each scan, going up approx 400mHz from starting point. Also make sure when mounting ariel, that you have set it up with the correct polarization ie. H (horizontal) or (V) vertical!! Best of luck!!
I've seen a few threads popping up asking about MMDS setup in Cork. I'm guessing the reason why people are moving to MMDS (DVB-T) is because of the introduction of Niagra 3 on the Ch0ru$ Cable (DVB-C) system. As Ch0ru$ provide both systems, is it not inevitable that they will roll out N3 on the MMDS system also in the not to distant future? If it's a year away then it might be worth the effort and expense, but who's to say N3 won't be used for MMDS transmission in the next couple of weeks. Shame to see people buying equipment and going to the trouble of installing it, if N3 is introduced soon. Any ideas when this might happen?
I had assumed the procedure to implement N3 was similar for MMDS and Cable. They were able to swap over to N2 on MMDS as fast as on Cable. My guess was that they were upgrading the hardware/smart cards of cable customers first as this would represent a higher "catch". And then they would do similarly for MMDS customers. Does anyone know if they have been able to switch to N3 on MMDS elsewhere in Ireland or the UK? If not, there may be technical issues involved in doing so, then it might be some time before they can achieve it.
NTHELL MMDS, the prem chans have gone, so they have done this with that, but chorus MMDS seems to be an issue or they would have done it by now, even move to n2, As I said above its an issue for them or it would have been done, but like anything in the cable scene some of it is best guess as to what is happening or will happen MMDS is only in Ire, not in the UK
Thanks MICKAH. I believe NTHELL MMDS is uses DVB-C as its delivery method and Ch0ru$ MMDS use DVB-T. Maybe this is why they are having trouble changing over. If MMDS is just delivered in Ireland and it is just the Ch0ru$ MMDS which can't implement N3, then it is unlikely to be a priority for YOU-PC. I guess they would spend minimum effort/expense to catch the bulk of customers. If so, lets hope they put ch0ru$ MMDS on the long finger! Is there any legit MMDS customers in cork out there. If so, could you let us know if Ch0ru$ has contacted you to say they will be supplying new equipment and/or smart cards? I assume this would need to be done months before any switch over. Thanks
hi lads im on mmds in louth still have all prem chan i am also a chorus customer i rang them the other day they said it would be 60 notes to get basic and all sky sports and will have to send round a techian as i need new card and dox if that is any help
