I have a V180 and have downloaded MPT v3.11. I have gotten everything to work fine except it won't let me access the multimedia tool. It just hangs when I click it. Wondering what the deal was, would appreciate any prompt reply.

    Thanks

I don't have a direct answer to your question,Jah_One, but I had the same problem. I installed Mobile Phone Tools version 3.23 (which updated to 3.25) and everything worked great. I also have a V180. You can find version 3.23 at:

Thanks to motodude for the link.

Hey Thanks for the updated software, it works great. Now another question, how do I get those stupid default locked ringtones off my phone to free up space? Does anyone know? That might be a dumb question but hey.

    Thanks

Your question about deleting ringtones is not dumb at all. There is a great sticky on the subject here:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/164059
Once you've read the thread, you should be aware of how to delete the ringtones, and you should also be aware of what precautions to take. I will, however, elaborate on how to delete the stock ringtones, since the thread is not crystal clear.

Open p2kman. (If you are not sure how to install and open p2kman, look here:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/170124
It is a link to the Motorola Hacker's Bible) Once you have opened p2kman, click on "Update list" on the lefthand side. Then on the upper lefthand side, expand mobile and click on audio. On the righthand side is a grid with entries for: FILE; ATTRIBUTES; SIZE; and TYPE. Click on the files you want to change. For example, they show up in p2kman as ~AlertFile178.mid and the like. Select the file you want to delete and pay attention to the listing for ATTRIBUTE. Type the attribute in the box below but change the last digit of the attribute from 4 to 0. For example, if it has an attribute of 70004, select the file and type 70000 in the attribute box, then select change. (Most locked files have a listing of 70004, as discussed above, or 70044, in which case you would change the attribute to 70040.)

After you do this, each file you have changed will still be on your phone, but will now be unlocked. You can delete them as you would any file through your phone's menu. However, you should follow the cautions listed in the thread referenced above. In particular, make sure back up all files before yous start deleting. Also, you may have noticed that this is not the only method of deleting stock files, but I find it to be the easiest and the safest. (I tried the other method and it took me a long time to correct the damage I did.) I hope this helps. Good luck.

Check if it is compatible with MPT (ther's a link in my signature) cos, i may be wrong but, i have a sneaky suspection it ain't.
On the list it has a V180ens.
It also has the V220 and V220ens as well. Not sure what [bold]'ens'[/bold] means, does anyone else know?

Also i don't know why you don't all just do a 'Live Update', instaed of dowloading all these different updates, let the software do it for you. That's what the option is there for That will install up to the latest version available automatically.
Just make sure the version you are currently using is installed correctly and working properly and then go to Setup and Live Update.
It does take a few minutes but the time it takes usually depends on the amount of updates it has to do, because from what i can gather, it has to have a least one version from each series, 1, 2 and 3. For example i went from v1.23 to v2.21 then did a live update right to v3.25. And it does one every so often to check for anymore.
Also it saves your fingers from a lot of clicking!

Just put it in a place that is easy to find, like your desktop, for example. This is where i download all my files and then when i have installed or extracted, etc, i move it to the place where i will keep it.
Try keeping all your MPT downloads together. This will also make them easier to find if necessary.
Anyway, you might not need to find them at all, if your computer can detect the driver without you having to point it in the right direction.

Remember that there isn't anything that you have to install from these driver files. But you do have to unzip/extract them.
