Alright so I'm pretty sure I've read every single page on the web about swapping hard drives and modding your xbox in the last two days. Before I bought a mod chip I wanted to be sure it supported hard drive swapping but none of the descriptions say exactly that, they say they support hard drives up x amount giga bytes. So I was wondering if someone could help me out with a recommendation for a good mod chip that supports hard drive swapping.

As far as I know all chips support HD swapping.

There is also no limit to the size of the hd you can put into your modded xbox. The only currently limit is the size of hard drives manufactured :)

Xenium GOLD and SmartXX V3 are good chips and they come with solderless adapters for all versions as well.

I actually have an X3 soldered into my main system...

Ive used smartXX and xeniums over the years, but ive given or sold those systems away.

As I only really need 1 xbox now. Hell at one point i had 8 modded xboxes with every chip known to man lol, but that was a bit excessive.

geez i only turn my xbox on to use XBMC to stream video from my VOD raid server here... which btw sounds like a superb idea, i might have to do that now :)

do you use xbmc and the network streaming much ?

well the reason i use streaming is because i dont like using up space on my xbox for videos... I am sure you have downloaded videos in the past like DIVX or Xvids and if you want to watch them you have to watch them on your PC monitor..

not so enjoyable, especially when you have a few ppl over or you just want to watch it with your GF. Its not really cool to sit in the pc room all huddled around the pc monitor to watch a video youve downloaded.

This is why i stream over the network, I have all the files on a shared drive on one of my systems here and have the xbox plugged into the network. Then i simply go into XBMC choose my videos and goto Work group and it shows my network drive and bingo i am good to go.

XBMC is great especially for videos w/ weird codecs and stuff. I hate installing all that stuff on my pc's.

Oh and its nice to watch it on an HD plasma tv in my living room on my couch or at my bar... not in my office chair LOL :)

We are one of the biggest / oldest Xbox modchip sites out there.

We have been around nearly 5 years since b4 the very first xbox mod
