OK..i have done my share of softmodding but i am thinking about tackling hard mods and i have been researching some chips and such and i know that they are all pretty much the same but i was wondering if this spider chip is any good and if i should get the spider programmer if i plan on gettin multiple chips for other xbox's and then i will need to put the bios on a cd to run it after the chip is installed so by bios it is talking about evox or unleashx correct? i am trying to get all this worked out before i just try to do it to save me a headache. the spider chip seems pretty simple from what the guide on the site says but i am not sure since it is so cheap. I know it will take some effort to do this however i dont want to spend the extra 30ish bucks just so that it is a little easier. any help would be good or if i maybe just missed this topic please direct me to where i need to go. thanks and have a good one! the spider chip is not user freindly i would not get one pll say they are hard it install and hard to upgrade and flash
the spider chip is more advanced, i would stick with xecuter, or xenium, those are the best and most people have them so if you have a problem there are more chances to find someone who can help you. As far as the the BIOS and all that, it is easier to do everything once you get the chip installed, some people use autoinstaller cd's other flash the bios through ftp into the HD(thats what i did).
Iv'e had 2 spiderchip v1.0's and also ther spider gx and I will tell you from personal experience to stay away. I only got the gx because I thought they fixed all their problems but no. The main problem is they don't sit right on your LPC and I always have to use something to hold them down with. In my opinium, schuck out the extra few bucks for a Xenium or Executer.
Wow...i got a lot of responses...pretty helpful information but here is my next thing then...if i get a xenium or an excecuter what would be the cheapest yet easiest one to install..The other thing is will the chip not allow xbox live to check my hdd space or does it trick it. i have heard that they are checkin hdd space and banning them just for havin larger hdd. This is a big question for me that i need a [bold]positive[/bold] answer! I am also pretty advanced at modding i softmod pretty much as if it is a second job so if there is a chip that is cheaper than the two mentioned that is worth getting just requires a little work then i would most likely get that one if it was good enough. i went with the xecuter 3 ce solderless and it was about 78 bucks. About the hard drive they are not checking hard drives you can check for your self at xbox scene
OK in looking around for a chip i cant find anything on whether or not the xenium gold has an on and off switch this is kinda a must for me i really have to be able to shut the mod off or does it have an option at the boot up to pick wich one i want? not sure about these chips and how they work so any help is appreciated. I have the Xenium SP ice, which has all the same features as the gold. I have a retail and Hacked BIOS on mine and can boot up my box to either one from the OS. I heard the Gold is the exact same way.
