i am looking to find a modchip that will allow me to dualboot Windows XP and Linux do any exist? soldering is no problem i will need a tutorial on how to install ( with pics if possible ) thank you
Yeah, uhm let's see. The Xbox has 64mb RAM, so unless you plan on soldering some more RAM onto there, then I doubt you could even get XP to run, and that's assuming theirs a Windows XP port for Xbox- which I doubt there is. However, there is a Linux Debian port out there, called Xebian. Here's the wiki: http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Xebian_HOWTO I've never installed it before, but I have ran it via a live disk. It ran slower than mollases, but thats because of the 64mb ram, and it was on a CD-R. Pick up the ISO here: http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Download If you're familiar with Linux, then Xebian will be like another distribution. If you are planning on installing Xebian, then I would suggest you make a usb hookup so you can plug in keyboard + mouse, to make things easier. xp isn't possible... no port, just a "proof of concept" demo.. I had it out with a retard who insisted it could be done (prick even claimed that he was running WOW.. hahahahaha).. but it can't, the 64mb isn't so much the problem (because I have successfully installed XP on a pentium 133 with 64 ram.. it took about 40 minutes to boot, and 10 minutes to open "my computer"). The cpu doesn't understand the standard HAL interpretation of the instruction set (errrrr.. what?)... now then... If you are real crafty you can run 95 in the dosbox emulator which just about works, but windows is crap.. who would want to run it anyway?? Not me that's for sure Why not try DSL for xbox.. http://www.x-dsl.org/wiki/Main_Page faster than xebian..minimal and pretty sharp. uses the debian oldstable repositories.. or did.. probably have to look for potato or woody .deb files now to install anything else.. I have run every version of xbox linux, and even built my own from a core debian (yeah xebian) install.. the lack of ram is a big problem.. don't expect a good pc.. expect a slow pc with horrible screen resolution and lots of bits over the edge where you can't see them.. If you don't have a usb keyboard and mouse and the proper cables you really are in for a most unpleasant time..
