I'm not trying to start a flamewar or anything, but I need to know the best modchip for my friend's V.1 XBOX. He's basically interested in backing up his games, nothing special. I've modded my PS2 so I know a little about the whole process but there are so many options for an XBOX mod. I also wish I had gotten a different PS2 modchip and I don't want to make the same mistake here. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

it almost comes down to the question of solder or no solder. i personally run the matrix chip, and i'm very happy with it. i've modded around 20 xbox's with the matrix and everyone i've set up loves it. some people just use it to play backups, so there's no need to load a dashboard or anything, but if you want to be able to actually make backups, you'll need a dashboard such as evolutionX. the xecuter is a good chip also but it's a solder chip. from what i know, both chips are very similar in function and capabilities, but again it comes down to if you want to solder or not. if there are specific pros and cons of matrix vs. xecuter, i'm sure someone will point them out.
