HI RUSTY DOG,NEED YOUR HELP.I want to chip my xbox myself and am new to all of this so im looking for a solderless chip. have done a bit fo research around and have come to two chips. the cameleon and the matrix. i know i need a solderless adapter for the chameleon but do i need this for the matrix as well?and out of the two which would be easier to install? also do i need to purchase anything els on top of the chip and adapter to successfuly chip my xbox?
The Matrix will only work with v1 and early v1.1 XBox's that have the lpc holes filled with solder. The Chameleon and solderless adapter will work with any version XBox up til v1.5 If you have a version 1.5 Xbox then you'd need to solder 2 wires from the motherboard to the LPC. 1 for Ground and 1 for 3.3volts. I would also suggest buying the Programmer for either chip to reflash it. Unless your chip comes preflashed with an Evox or X2 bios, it'll make reflashing the Linux bios alot easier. RustyDog
with the chameleon you need a solderless adapter to install it onto your xbox,is this also needed with the matrix? also, from your own xperience, which chip would you recommend as i have a v1.0 xbox?
hi again. and also, i have realised you do your own chipping service. would you be able to supply me with a chameleon chip as this is the one u use and a solderless adapter? if so how much?
The Matrix chip has pogo pins already attached to the chip so you don't need any sort of an adapter. Of the 2 I would recomend the Chameleon with adapter. Has a few more features and also has the ability to hold a bios larger than 256k, just in case in the future one is released. I don't have the adapters for the Chameleon. All installs are I do are done with the Pin Header. RustyDog
Rusty, Can an XBOX be damaged (bios or otherwise) by simply attaching a modchip to it? In other words, if I attach a modchip and remove it, will the XBOX work as it always did? Thanks.
