When i switch on my computer the monitor is just showing "No signal" and then going off again. Sometimes, maybe twice out of 50 attempts it is commecting and windows is opening up ok, however most of the time it doesn't come on and i also can't switch off the processor with the button and have to pull the lead out the back to kill the power to try again.

Any help would be appreciated. I have tried the monitor in question with another processor and it starts up ok but when i try the processor with a monitor that i know is working then the same problem arises.

    Cheers

Brand and model of computer? How old?
Brand and model of monitor? How old?
Video card, or integrated Motherboard video?
Check for bent plug pins on both ends of the monitor cable?
Check power to monitor, plug, power switch?

Check the main power supply on the actual computer, and try another one.

I know this is an old post but i had the same sorta problem with a PC-Chips M848ALU Motherboard, AMD Sempron 2300+ and 1Gb Memeory. I found that if i went into the bios and disabled the "Fast Synchroniser", Set the Memory Timing to "Safe Mode" and bumped down the "AGP Aperture" down to 128Mb the pc would boot fine.

Like i say, this was with the setup i "Had" above, this was one of the reasons i decided to build my machine from scratch this time around and without knowing if you have a similar setup to my old one this is all i can do to help at the moment.

    Good luck.
