Hey all, I was just wondering if someone could help me out...I just got the MPT files and successfully installed them to my computer and it connected to my phone ( I know it was successful because the Mobile PhoneTools changed into the type of phone i have). So I got all excited and started thinking of all the cool ringtones I would have and clicked on Multimedia studio...thats where all the trouble started. It seems that I cannot connect to my phone to send any type of multimedia to it, and when I go to the ringtones section to try to manually send the files to the phone it says that theres no connection. Please help!

Hey, I have a v262 also, couldn't get MPT to work but I was able to move ringtones and pictures using Motorola's PST Phone Programmer tool (PST) version is 7.1.1 and P2k Commander version is 3.2.0. What you have to do is make sure your phone is installed, which it should be if you have tried MPT. Install PST with your phone connected, it will install some hardware during the install. P2K commander doesn't require an install, you run it from the folder (once you unzip it).
So with PST running (you can minimize it) start P2K commander. What you will see is an explorer type window, the top right hand part of the tool bar has a dropdown, select Mobile Phone. Now if everything is going right you will see it reading the phone in the status bar. Once it is done reading you should see a folder with an "a" infront of it, navigate through the folders by double clicking you want to go to motorola > shared > audio. This is where your ringtones are stored. Now you can navigate to your ringtoe folder in the left side of the window. Higlight the ringtone you want and click copy. This copies it to your sounds on your phone (under multimedia)

Now the important part, you want to navigate back up the folders on the phone to just before you see the "a" folder. Find the mytone.db file and tmptne.db file, copy those to your harddrive incase something messes up. once that is done on the phone side delete those 2 files. When restart your phone you should have access to the ringtones under Ringtones on the phone. Images are done the same way except it is just select and copy there are no .db files to delete.

I have read where you should restart the phone with software rather then using the power button. If you want to do it safe then get P2k Manager it will run along side the other 2 programs and it has restart function on it. All the programs are available on the net if you google them.

    Hi Acer,

If you do a search on Google you can find it, if you have problems email me and I will send it to you, the files are small.

Thanks man. I looked a little, (but not that hard) and found them, just not for download. I will try looking again later today. How do I find your email address if I need it?

Hi gang, just got a V262, and I'm wondering, ... I have Susteens usb cable, will the programs you mentioned work with this cable, or do you need Moto's usb cable?

I just used a cable I picked up at the mall, basically a no name brand, as long as it fits into the phone properly it should work.

O.K., got it all working, V262, Datapilot USB cable, MPT 323, PST, P2K Commander, .... not sure which combination of software worked, but it puts pics and ringtones on the 262 like a charm!!

I have the same problem with MPT Studio that blade has, but I have a Razr. I can sync my phonebook and calendar-- so the driver reads the SIM card-- but Studio fails to read phone memory. I've reinstalled several times and have the correct driver for SP2 installed according to other threads.

    Please help and thanks.

OK. This is slightly off topic but I'm not sure what carrier you have with your V262, but I'm using alltel. I'm having a problem getting outside connections with my phone. I can make and recieve phone calls. I'm talking about using Axcess and sending txt msgs and multimedia msgs and whatnot. On Axcess I'm getting an error 534. I'm not sure what that means. At first I thought it was the amount of space I had on my phone because I had about 1% free because I had so many ringtones on there via data-cable(MPT v3.2 using V265m drivers. Because, well... they work.). Anyway this phone is new and a free replacement of my T720. And all the musictones and pictures work fine but, I can't touch, feel, smell, or see any programs or games on my amazing V262. I wish I could with the help of someone.

BTW on my bill I hadn't sent a message or gotten on Axcess since I had my T720. So it's still active. And I also freed up some space to see if that was the problem but it wasn't, and now I have 29% free.

    Hey droptop,

I think if you follow the same instructions I have posted for v262 it should work. Possibly your computer doesn't have a 2.0 USB port. I have read in other threads this has a direct effect on MTP. Your work around would be to follow the instructions for P2K of invest another 35 or so dollars in a card with 2.0 usb ports (that would be for desktop laptop is more). Let me know how you make out.

The USB ports are 2.0 and MPT can read the address book, it's just that Studio will not read the image or sound files-- the explorer will not access the phone.

I guess I can try the PST Phone Programmer tool (PST)and P2k Commander. Got any links where I might get them?

Hey droptop just do what I did and use the V265m drivers instead of the V262. It works just fine for impoting/exporting ring/musictones to my phone. And everything else works, even the MMS messaging.

Ok, but how do I determine exactly which model's drivers are used? I've tried the few that come with MPT and some I pulled off another thread, but none really indicate more than SP2.

Wel then try the live update and then try using the drivers then, that's what I did.
