i wanted to explore the full potential of the xbox.i want to know what the most mods you can do is.i was thinking stick 3tb(3000gb)hdd in it plus a modchip and a pentium 4 running @3.6ghz and upgrade to 1gb ram.i dont know all the possibles yet but i do know there is a 1.4ghz processor available and 128ddram available i want more.
People have enough problems w/ 400GB HDD and higher, so a HDD of that size would literally be pointless. As for the RAM, I don't want to say that would be impossible to upgrade it to 1GB, but I think it is damn near close. The one thing I know you can do is upgrade your 64MB ram chip w/ a 128MB ram chip. It's to bad that everybody who does this finds out the hard way that it is in NO WAY WORTH the troubles of installing this chip because you can't tell a difference, even when playing roms, which is why most people upgrade it in the first place. Playing games off of the HD is fast enough, and I wouldn't worry about upgrading your systems mobo parts, because it is to risky and not worth the troubles.
a 3tb hdd hasn't even been invented yet, for one. for two, i looked at the upgrade options a year or two ago, and the only things that would benefit from a memory upgrade would be memory-aware applications. last i knew, that was mame (for larger roms) and a handful of patched games. and, as i remember, the only reason the xbox was upgradeable at all, is because x-sceners figured out specifically what type, manufacturer, etc. the memory/processor was, and found a match from those manufacturers for a slightly upgraded version of each. you should probably read a little further into this type of upgrade and what it entails before you start making up hard drives. you're also dreaming if you think you can just stick a pentium 4 and a couple sticks of ddram in that board. i know for a fact that you have to solder those little ram chips in there yourself, to begin with, and that's a pincount in the high double/triple digits. edit: UGH. SERVERS USE RAID SETUPS, WHICH USE MULTIPLE HARD DRIVES. ON TOP OF THAT THEY'RE MOSTLY SCSI/SATA DRIVES, NOT LOCKABLE EIDE DRIVES.
who said anything about me soldering 3of my brothers has done courses and 1 of them works in an electric assembly plant so that shouldnt be a problem for him.or for the guys that work allday putting modchips in.
xboxdevil, yeah, install a mod chip, preferably the Xecuter 3ce as it is the most supported chip about. There is no point upgrading anything else but the hd. upgrading ram is pointless as 99% of games will not benefit from the upgrade. Upgrading the processor is pointless aswell, for the same reason as the ram. & if you think you can just install a 3tb hd(Which currently does not exist) you have got to be kidding. You would run into some huge errors, it is just too much space for the xbox to manage. Try not to go over the 400gb mark.
unless you're running alot of emulators or linux....the ram idea is silly, the games are flagged to use 64meg (actually more like 48...the ram is shared) There is a tool to remove the flags so that the 128 upgrade is used....but still that's more for the emu's and linux and such. The hdd idea is about the only thing I wuld back you up on here....but still, what the hell would you need 3TB for anyways. If you were ging to build a server, why with an xbox? No need for mobility....all the same, good luck and keep us posted.
i want 500+ xbox games backed up.1000+ps1&2 games plus 5000+emulatored games or roms.i already have an xecuter 2 modchip and 80GB HDD i dont see the reason to upgrade to xecuter 3 until my modchip stops working i know its suppose to be better but why fix something that isn't broken.i wasnt planning on using my xbox as a server i just want it to be the most powerful in the world.
Why the hell would you want to put your PS1 & PS2 games on the xbox's hd. seems kinda pointless to me, seeing as how there isn't a ps2 emulator out for the xbox yet. Dude, how old are you. Coz that just sounds childish
Hehe, my replie had already been typed for me by a guy on another xbox forum. How Nice. Yeah... What ^he^ said
i do have a brain in my head and an IQ of 142.as for the ps2 it runs at 300mhz the xbox runs at more than double the speed and the gamecube is even slower.although ps2 emulators work on very few games they can still work and once a programmer gets one to work flawlessy you will hear about it.if you could get the xbox to run an emulator which is identical to a modded ps2 technically it should work,as for the DC and GC theres no point in emulating them as they are about $20 to buy and have crap games anyway.as for you bubba 1982 get your own words and stop copying what other people say.do you have a brain or do you just copy and paste things you see to try and sound intelligent.
I didn't bother typing all that out myself because what is the point. I would just be saying the same thing in different words. Xbox and PS2 have been out for how many years now..... And they have been modded for how long... And after all this time why hasn't a programmer managed to get a ps2 emulator working on the xbox? Oh thats right [bold]BECAUSE IT CAN'T BE DONE[/bold]. The bloke I copied the info from didn't say that the xbox was an inferior machine as far as hardware is concerned. What was said is that due to [bold]DIFFERENT[/bold] hardware on both machines it is impossible for either machine to emulate the other. I mean the xbox even has some problems running some arcade roms. For somebody with a supposed I.Q. of 142 you act like a friggen child. Now grow up or F*** off numbnuts.
BTW, just to clarify things a bit. There are not 32 emulators for the xbox, there are quite a few more. Here is a brief list.
