Would a Asus P5KPL-CM Intel G31 be a good motherboard for a duo core E8500 with a ATI 4850? or should I get a better one? I heard that that might not be a good choice so I was just asking. Also are Nvidia motherboards bad or something cause I was told to stay away from them..... Use only Intel.. thanks
That is correct about the nvidia boards, it's also unwise to buy cheap Asus boards, as they're bad too. I would recommend something like a Gigabyte EP45-DS3L.
I have a question... Asus P5Q-E or Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R? I'm building a "Budget" comupter, or um...some parts Intel E5200 Mushkin XP 996599 DDR2-1066 4GB (2 x 2GB) CL5 Corsair HX520w Force3D/GeCube HD4870 512MB GDDR3 CoolerMaster CM/RS 690 But i can't decide which motherboard to go with. So i need help here, and if possible i hope there are people with first hand experience with one of these two boards thanks
Because (the newer versions at least) are good overclockers, and are relatively stable and compatible. The cheaper Asus boards in any particular series always give problems, it's been proven with the P5Q, P5K, P5N, A8N and various other series.
phew! i was planning to get P5Q because it's cheap and also it looks nice...looks can be deceiving... and i'm worried that this RAM http://www.prophecy.co.za/mushkin-996599-ddr21066-p-29905.html won't be compatible with EP45-DS3R.
Mushkin PC8500 is not officially supported by Gigabyte. It may work, but it may not. For guaranteed compatibility at 1066 speed use the following brands Apacer Aeneon Corsair Geil Hynix Kingmax Kingston PQI Qimonda Winchip Note that 2x2GB modules at 1066mhz speed are not officially supported. They will work, but with impacts on overclocking performance.

The DHX RAM has a better heatspreader, so it won't get so hot if you use four sticks. The Mushkin RAM is indeed CAS4, but again, no mention of compatibility at Gigabyte... Willing to take a chance?
man, it's very risky if you think about it, if i'm lucky i'll have no problem, but if not then i'm screwed! And i think it's because the board only supports 1.8v rams and not like Mushkin 2.0v - 2.1v I guess i'll get the DHX and what is more important? The timing or the speed?
The EP45-DS3R will support higher DIMM voltages than 1.8. As for what's more important, please actually read the msn conversations we have. I'm tired of repeating myself. (P.S. It's the speed... )
nowt wrong at all with any of the P5Q series (well bar the P5Qc) or the P5K series (apart from the vanilla one) the P5Q pro IMO is the best one price to performance for any board right now. if you need Esata go for the P5Q-E or else just stick with the P5QPRO. better yet get a GB-EP45-DS3R. tbh either one will be fine.
