hi can i just get a new faster processor and put it in i have a 1.9ghz running at 1.5 i want a faster one how can i tell if my motherboard will take a faster one cheers
You gave no information that is helpful, without the make an model of your motherboard. The best way to find out is from the manufacturer's website.
how do i find out my motherboard manufactuer as i bought the tower of someone and updated the graphics card hard drive and ram
from the description I'm thinking you have an Athlon XP 1900+ at 1.5Ghz. That will be a socket A board - the bad news is that almost every socket A motherboard had a different maximum processor speed. If you're able to look inside the PC, the motherboard name should be printed on it.
hi sorry took so long to write this it also has asrock on one side and k7s4igx and on another it has ata133 hope this will get my answer cheers
Well spotted ddp, I looked up the model number he gave me and found nothing... As you see from the table culpeck, you can put up to a 3200+ CPU in it, which is about equal to a 3.0-3.4Ghz P4.
cheers thanks be out tommorow to get one one more question at the moment i have a radion 9600 pro graphics card is there any limit on how high a gc i can put in thanks
Yes, for a start you can only replace it with an AGP card, and secondly to upgrade your graphics card you will probably need a new PSU as most graphics cards use more power than the 9600 nowadays.
ok if i can only have a agp card and say i update my psu how high i card can i go or would it be better to get a new mother board processor bundle then a new gc ifso which would be the best way to go cheers
If you're looking to play modern games, you really want a better CPU than the XP 3200+ and a better graphics card than AGP can provide. If you want to update your system, it's best off to start fresh really, only keeping the disk drives and peripherals.
