    VE240
    Need V5 to detect it? Add the following to Detect.inf:

    [Ve240]
    Driver=Mo_Ve
    Manufacturer=+CGMI: "Motorola CE, Copyright
    Model=""MODEL=Ve240""
    Model3=+MPTID: 1142
    CapaNetwork=CDMA
    PnPNames=Motorola USB Modem
    BT=1
    DeviceFile=MotorolaCDMAType1_1.htm
    PairingFile=MotorolaCDMAType1_2.htm
    InstructionPages=MotorolaCDMAType1_1.htm;MotorolaCDMAType1_2.htm
    PicturePhone=moto_ve.jpg
    ID_DEVICE=1804

    Works great for me. If you need another added, just let me know. I have been adding alot of "unsupported" phones to the list.

    I'm no phone or computer guru...phone tools used to work fine with my old razor (got washed). My VE240 won't detect (as you mention)...but I don't understand how to follow your instructions.
    At what point do you enter the "Detect.inf" info ?
    -From DOS prompt?
    -During installation (don't see how)?
    Any additional help greatly appreciated.

    After you install the program you need to close all the windows. go to the directory you installed it in. look for detect file. Add that statement above. You can add it anywhere in the file. I added it about half way down. just use notepad.
    Think of it this way, its just like the old INI files.

    Was that any help? if not, just le me know and i will try to explain better.

    Did i mention, After you make the change, just start the program and it will find the phone.

    I will try to post the actual file later. I am also adding a few others.

    I'm sorry for being a pest. But I got into the Detect.inf file (Windows Vista automatically used notepad), when I try to close the file it advises that "file already exists do you want to replace", when I click yes...it says "Cannot create the file C:\Program Files\Motorola Phone Tools\Detect.inf" check path or file name. I know this is the path I used to access the file???

    No, when I check the file's properties...the "read only" box is not checked. Also, this is my personal laptop...I always logon as system administrator...full access/control.
    Are you using Vista, XP, Lenox...???

    here at home, i use linux and xp pro. at the office i use vista. I have hooked the phone to both xp and vista, but i never had an os tell me i can't change that file.

    another thought, make sure it is not running when you make the change. It seems to keep running something in the background from what i just saw.

    I shut down phone tools (and all other programs running) but still get the same message. "Cannot create the file C:\Program Files\Motorola Phone Tools\Detect.inf" check path or file name."

    Also...I went to motorola's web site

    http://motorola-global-eng.custhelp.../enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4885&p_topview=1

    This is there Frequently Asked Questions section. They actually have an option to check if any of their phones is compatible with phone tools...the VE240 shows as compatible with version 5.13b...which is what I'm trying to detect.

    I appreciate your help, I wish I hadn't gotten used to using the program...looks like I'll either live without it...or buy another razor (it was a better phone anyway..I thought).
