This problem has manifested today and it is really really annoying me. I have a Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 v2.0 and ive had it for a good few monthes. All of a sudden today, my Mouse just started flipping out. Examples: as i would just hover my mouse cursor over tabs in Firefox, it would just close them as if the left click is held down (when it clearly isn't), the scroll wheel would turn on automatically for 5 seconds, turn off for 2 seconds, and then repeat the process (even when my hands are off the mouse entirely). Also sometimes it wont allow me to left click certain areas of a page but other areas are fine (like, i can left click inside the address bar just fine, but it wont even acknowledge my left clicks for anything on the main body of a website, like clicking links) And just an hour ago, my computer started showing programs in the taskbar as windows for some reason: (Screenshot: http://www4.picturepush.com/photo/a/2884482/img/2884482.jpg ). Ive replaced the Mouse and the keyboard with different types yet the problem is still occurring, which leads me to believe it is Software Related Ive ran multiple virus scans and even though some things were detected and fixed, the problem keeps happening. Please help me out if you can. Thanks
I saw this once a long time ago.. it seemed to be related to systems which were showing a WGA fail.. seems to be a deliberate way M$ use to disable input devices on non validated operating systems... as with everything they make they use this kind of stupidity and it backfires at random.. http://social.answers.microsoft.com...e/thread/db5f701c-ccb7-4e93-b45d-d182958ef031 for win7 rubbish.. but seems nothing new.. give that a shot and see if anything changes.
Thanks for the reply. Ive tried the suggestions that you recommended, but it didnt seem to work. That "microsoft disabling input devices" would make sense, but my actual operating system (windows XP), is paid for, genuine, and activated.
I have just formatted and reinstalled my OS and its still happening. I edited by ddp i am near tears right now
sounds like you have a hardware problem then... do you have another old or spare mouse to test? I get through about 1 a year.. they wear out and go mad.. I usually end up swapping the left and right buttons to get a few months more out of em.. until the scroll wheel falls off.. I spend way too much time at the computer.. as witnessed by the written on with cd pen letters on my keyboard.. hehehehe your fault is very similar to mine.. double left click fast.. or no click.. or random click when my finger is nowhere near the button.. try taking it apart maybe.. or.. heres a good one.. could be a motherboard ps2 driver problem.. or the actual port gone west.. it does happen but if it is it would be very unusual.. I think I have seen 1 duff mouse port in maybe 20k computers through my workshop in 20 years.
