Hi, this is my first post here, and I'll be flat out honest that I am pretty dumb when it comes to computers and their terminology so please bear with me. I'm having the same problem recently with certain movies that I am burning. In particular at the moment the movie: "Walk The Line". I love this movie and it freezes when I play it in my Samsung DVD player. I burned it using only DVD Shrink 3.2 and then using Nero Recode. I usually do not have problems with DVD's, but on occasion this will happen. It's funny because sometimes when the movie freezes and I rewind slightly to right before the spot it froze at, it will sometimes not freeze again at that same spot. Sorry if this has been covered here somewhere else but like I said, I am new here and this is my first post. I'm hoping to learn more about this process and computers in general and your help is deeply appreciated. I will search the forums right now and try to see if I can find anything. I did see something about DVD+R and DVD-R, but I don't know if this applies to me or not. Thank you guys. Allen
@bigwhilly What brand blanks are you using, quality media=quality backups. Stay away from Memorex, Imation, Kyphermedia etc. Use only quality media from Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Fuji, Maxell (made in Japan). Burn nice and slow, 4X...don't use adhesive labels and don't multitask during the burn. @Fleezbyte Welcome to AD. The same advice above would apply to your problem as well. I prefer +R flavored discs because I can booktype them for a higher rate of compatability...but this is another lesson on another day.
Thank you for the reply LOCOENG! I was using "Imation" DVD+R and yesterday I went over to WallyWorld to see if using a "Maxxel" DVD-R would solve the problem. I burned at 4X speed and it worked like a charm! The movie no longer freezes and plays beautifully! Looks like going cheap is'nt worth it huh? I'll look into the "Verbatims" this coming weekend when I get paid, but it looks like I'll have to buy them online. Thanks again. Allen
OK, thanks. I'll go there over the weekend then. I'm just wondering how simply switching brands of DVD's can make this big of a difference. Allen
