When I open a movie, mpg avi or whatever, it's really dark. But if I open another one at the same time, the 2nd one will be fine. I just installed some new video card drivers and the problem's only got worse.

Does it have something to do with my codecs?

Nothing to do with codecs. You would be using hardware overlay for the first movie. For the second it isn't available. Should be seperate options in your video card drivers for configuring the overlay (brightness, gamma, etc.) Could also change renderer to VMR7/9 or Haali's.

how do I stop it from using the overlay thing? I tried to adjust the colours and it worked, but when I open a 2nd video it still looks better, so I think it'd be better to just disable that overlay thing.

How would I change the renderer?

    Depends on the player.
