So i have a Dell machine with a dual layer DVD +-RW (though i've never burned a dual layer disc). This drive has worked well for awhile after i got it. But just recently every movie I burn with this drive has like 4 or 5 considerable skips in it. Otherwise the movies work fine but they all have these annoying skips. This just started recently after i moved so i'm wondering if that could have anything to do with it. I didn't knock my computer around or anything but it seems like my problems started after my move. I've turned the write speed down to 2x with no change in the skips. Also i'm using Sony made in Japan discs that have never given me any problems. Any ideas? Is the drive screwed? Thanks Chris
Two possibilities: 1-The SONY made in Japan are the new SONY Coded instead of TY. In that case maybe is a firmware issue. 2-The drive is toast. LOL
