Ive got a movie thats over 2 Hrs and ive got a Maxell DVD-R 16x can i just burn the movie to the Disc and the whole movie will be on it?
Wooahh!! Slow down... lol. There are a few things that need to be considered first. What format is the movie in? Is it mpeg, avi?? Also what is the current filesize of the movie? If it is over 4.35gb, then there is no way it can fit without recompressing the movie file. A DVD has 4.35gb in available data space, no less, no more. I know on blank DVD's it says 120min of video. To be honest I have no idea why they put that there. I think they were trying to create a standard similar to the old SP/LP VHS type scenario, but I really don't think anyone uses it. Digital Video is so diverse, that you can manipulate it in so many ways. You could make 60 mins of video take up a whole DVD, then again you could squeeze 3 hours on it (5 hours or more if using DivX or other high compression codec). It all comes down to bitrate. What bitrate is, is the amount of data allocated per second to encode the video and audio. So obviously the higher the bitrate (the more data allowed), the better the quality of the resulting video. I can help guide you through the process of successfully getting your video onto a DVD, but I will need to find out more about it. Its in AVI im converting with WinAVI This is what i got when i went to Properies Size 909 MB Duration: 2 hrs 10 mins BitRate 96kbps Audio Format MPEG Layer-3 Frame Rate 23 frames/second Date Rate 118kbps
Did you want to keep it as an avi? Or convert it to a regular DVD compliant disc to be played in any stand alone player? Do you have a DivX certified DVD player?
Im converting AVI to DVD Also i have a little Question, how come that when i burn some my Movies they only work on only 1 of 4 DVDs that i own?
The issue you're having could be related to your burn speed or media. Burning at 4x generally solves any problems while a good rule of thumb is to burn at half the discs rated burn speed. Also, Maxell made in Japan is very good media while Maxell made in Taiwan is very poor. It's generally accepted that Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim are the best followed by any made in Japan. The Movie plays on 1 of the 4 DVD players, so when i play the Movie on the other 3 they just give me a Not a DVD screen Im using WinAVI to convert
