I need help setting up Mozilla Thunderbird. This program is an email program like outlook express. I need to know what type of incoming server i have. I need the name of my incoming server. I need the name of my outgoing server (SMTP). Please help me
This is right up my alley...I use Thunderbird ALL the time. First off, you will need to either contact your ISP or look on their website, usually in their FAQ, to locate the mail servers. For example: my isp is Adelphia. So my incoming and outgoing for my POP3 account will be: mail.adelphia.net that is for both the outgoing and incoming mail servers. As far as news groups are concerned and the RSS Feeds, those are different and I haven't went into them yet. But you will have to check with you ISP and/or documentation on their website to find the mail server names.
goto your present email than tools/accounts, your present account than properties & than the server tab
Ok...now if I am understanding this correctly, you are looking to get your Yahoo! Mail into Thunderbird. If that is the case, you won't be able to do that with a free account. You will need to upgrade to the $19.99 account in order to get the mail server addresses. Yahoo at one time offered it for free, but stopped that a couple of years ago for some reason, I can't remember. If you are trying to do that, you will have to upgrade your account, if not, whoever is your internet service provider is, you should be able to get the mail server addys and be able to get your mail via Thunderbird. Let me know if you are trying to use Yahoo or if you want your ISP email there too.
my internet service provider is road runner. i want to use thunderbird and yahoo but not move yahoo to thunderbird.
Ok... Well looks like you will have to start here: http://www.help.rr.com/AA/rrwho.aspx?ReturnUrl=/Default.aspx Since I don't know your info, you will have to do the rest. But I did a search in google and this came up. Also, check out the FAQ. In there it should tell you what the mail servers are and how to setup them up in Outlook, which by the way, is pretty much the same as Thunderbird. Good Luck to you!
Ah! Yeah, that would kinda be helpful... No problem, bbiagllla, glad to help! Hope you enjoy it...it is a great program!
