Hi, When i use an internet (IE,firefox) i mostly use firefox and it is running very slow...normally it is running a a very fast or decent speed ...but right now it is running very slow.... Thanks for any help speeding it up ( i already did the about:config thing but im going to try it agian)
Try FasterFox plugin for FireFox. Maybe it will help. Also try to run some diagnostic tests on your modem to see if it's begining to bite the dust.
its actually a farly new moto modem because we got the optimum triple play which requires you to get their brand new modem that you plug a phone in that runs on the cable lines....ok ill look into the faster firefox thing thanks alot
First, Whats the advertised speed of your connection and is it broadband or dial-up? Try running it in Safe mode with networking, for more info on how to get into safe mode read this: http://www.laplink.com/support/kb/article.asp?ID=102 Tell us how it runs in safe mode with networking, if you notice that it runs correctly in safe mode with networking, that narrows down the cause to a few and helps us help you :-D
You can also use a program called FireTune. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/firetune.html Install, and when you run it...back up your profile as suggested. Then click on "Fast Computer/Fast Connection". Apply the changes. You can then uninstall if you want to. To get your backup running, run the program again and choose to use the backup profile.
meh, it sorta worked not really sped it up a little bit though... EDIT:ill try safe mode in a little while
Try using Opera web browser or even IE to see if both or slow, if all the web browsers are running slow then its your connectio0n and not the program.
its been very fast for the past few months or w/e so i dont think its my connection and my IE is always slow (its like 5.0 or someting i never use it)idk
Some body suggested this to speed up firefox: FireFox Load Time 1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves. If you're using a brodband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now
ok can you tell me what is the differece between safe mode and "regualr" mode i know how to get into it and junk but idk what it does because ive never been in it
Safe mode is primarily used to troubleshoot problems with Windows by only running the bare essentials of the Windows operating systems and device drivers. Once entering safe mode, the user can execute commands and load devices one at a time. For example, if your Win98 computer "hangs" while booting, you can start in "safe mode" and load device drivers one at time to locate the problem. Boot into it and see how the internet runs.
hey, i went into safe mode and it was so much faster....in both IE and mozzila ....so anybody know what the problem might be
Thank you, now we may get somewhere. First thing I would like you to do is post a HJT log in the Windows Spyware And Virus forums, you will get more info when you start a thread there.
