Try FasterFox plugin for FireFox. Maybe it will help. Also try to run some diagnostic tests on your modem to see if it's begining to bite the dust.

First, Whats the advertised speed of your connection and is it broadband or dial-up?

Try running it in Safe mode with networking, for more info on how to get into safe mode read this:

    http://www.laplink.com/support/kb/article.asp?ID=102

Tell us how it runs in safe mode with networking, if you notice that it runs correctly in safe mode with networking, that narrows down the cause to a few and helps us help you :-D

You can also use a program called FireTune.

    http://www.snapfiles.com/get/firetune.html

Install, and when you run it...back up your profile as suggested. Then click on "Fast Computer/Fast Connection". Apply the changes. You can then uninstall if you want to. To get your backup running, run the program again and choose to use the backup profile.

Try using Opera web browser or even IE to see if both or slow, if all the web browsers are running slow then its your connectio0n and not the program.

You may be right. It looks like the connection or moden is the reason.

Some body suggested this to speed up firefox:

    FireFox Load Time

    1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll
down and look for the following entries:

    network.http.pipelining
    network.http.proxy.pipelining
    network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time.
When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really
    speeds up page loading.

    2. Alter the entries as follows:

    Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

    Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This
means it will make 30 requests at once.

    3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.
Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a brodband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now

Safe mode is primarily used to troubleshoot problems with Windows by only running the bare essentials of the Windows operating systems and device drivers. Once entering safe mode, the user can execute commands and load devices one at a time. For example, if your Win98 computer "hangs" while booting, you can start in "safe mode" and load device drivers one at time to locate the problem.

Boot into it and see how the internet runs.

Thank you, now we may get somewhere.

First thing I would like you to do is post a HJT log in the Windows Spyware And Virus forums, you will get more info when you start a thread there.
