I have purchased a Dell 20 gig mp3 player and after putting some music onto it i found that it can only hold 4500 songs. This is half of what they say it can handle. My question is how do i get the maxium number of songs without making the mp3 quality sound bad. Whats the lowest KPS i should make things and still get decent sound.

Most of my music is between 192kps and 320kps this makes for huge files. Should i make everything 128kps? Also what is the best and fastest program availible for doing this?

When a manufacturer says their player can hold alot of MP3 files say over 10,000 they base that on the average standard of 128 kBps. 128 isn't the best quality. Use a program called Exact Audio Copy to rip your cd's to MP3. It has been proven to be the best. You can create another type of MP3 which is VBR (Variable Bit Rate). THis alters between different bit rates while keeping file sizes average. Click on this link to download the program = http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/mydeneaclame.cfm
