Wondering anyway to utilize the Video Player to play .mp4 files. I've managed to upload some clips by using pspvideo9 and 3gp converter to make them into a format the phone can read. Then I transfered them onto my phone via Phone Tools, but the clip doesnt take up the whole screen. I messed with resolution settings, and bitrate settings and still doesnt take up the whole screen. The clip is watchable but it would be nicer if it were bigger. I have a rokr by the way and I even sent the clip to my friends razr, and still small res. Any clue what the next step should be? The rokr has a 512mb flash card so it would be sweet to upload a tv episode with decent quality.

For video on the ROKR I tried the phone tools but had the same problem you have with the small window and won't seem to let me adjust the video size in the version I have.

Instead I'm using Videora iPod Converter to make the video which is a sweet freeware tool from videora.com Once installed click setup and in the profiles tab make a Moto profile and set Mode to MPEG-4 > CBR adjust the rest of the settings to get good playback vs quality. If you go too high in the quality you'll get very slow response from the phone and jumping in the video but it will play it. First few video's I did had that problem so I went much lower quality and I'm working to find the best balance... currently I'm set at

    Video
    Mode: MPEG-4 > CBR
    Resolution: 176x144 (fills the screen)
    Passes: One
    BitRate: 96kps
    FrameRate: 14.985 fps

    Audio
    Bitrate: 32kbps
    Channels: Stereo
    Sample Rate: 12000 Hz
    Volume: 100%

Once the mp4 file is created I just copy it over to the memory card and play it. The settings produced a small file that looked reasonable and kept the phone responsive but I'm still playing to see where the best balance is.

Update here if this works for you, you find improved settings for better quality or found a better solution :)
