    Hello All,
I have downloaded a moview which had the extension .mp4. I tried playing it in Windows Media Player 10 but i receive the message Codec missing. Could anyone point out to the right codec that needs to be loaded so that the moview plays in Windows Media Player 10.

    Regards,
    -PSK

Part 14 is just the container though. You also need decoders for the audio/video as well as maybe a subtitle (Part 17) renderer.

WMP is dshow based, so you need an mp4 splitter (Part 14) such as Gabest's or Haali's, then as said decoders for audio and video. ffdshow can handle basically everything that is MPEG-4. So basically with Haali's or Gabest's splitter and ffdshow installed, WMP10 should be able to playback mp4's. You only need a codec if you also want to encode. ffdshow can handle that anyway.
