First of all, I'm not exactly sure what thread this goes into because it's a two-part question, so if it's in the wrong one.. I'm sorry >_< Basically, I recently bought a camera that puts movies into MPEG-4.. Firstly, is there any other program I can watch it in besides the one that came with the camera? I tried Nero, but it said something about MPEG-4 demo is expired.. but I really don't understand why that is, because I already registered the product. Besides that, I was also wondering.. is there any way I can edit these movies? I have Adobe Premiere 1.5 as well as Windows Movie Maker, but if I'm correct, don't they have to be in .avi, .wmv, or .mpeg-1/2 format? So do I have to convert them or something? Thanks in advance!! [sorry for such a long post, lol]
These players should work fine for mpeg-4 BSplayer: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/bsplayer.cfm Media Player Classic: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/media_player_classic.cfm VLC: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/vlc.cfm As for editing you should be able to open them using your current software as long as you have the right codecs. If you have any probs playing them then download this: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/divx_3_codec.cfm
A lot depends on what you mean by MPEG-4. I have seen posts on cameras that record MS MPEG-4 in an ASF container, cameras that record to avi with the fourCC XviD and I guess there could be cameras that actually record to mp4.
