I'm pretty new at this but I went thru a lot of threads and found that Nerovision is most user-friendly in converting mpeg1 on to dvds.

I had four 45mins mpeg1 files and converted it into 4.7gb dvd. The problem I'm having is the duration of this process. The burning is fine (only took 20mins with my A05) but the converting and transcoding took NEARLY 3 HOURS per mpeg! I finished the dvd in about 12 hrs.

Did anyone come across the same situation?
Im running 512Ram on a AMD 2600+ with about 20gb Free HD. This issue is driving me nuts, I'm not sure if I'm doing this wrong or if I need an updated firmware. Any sugesstion will be greatly appreciated.

Well first off Nero Vision Express SUCKS...so I would advise against useing it ,Mostly because of 2 reasons One is that it will re-encode any file you put into it even those that are 100% compliant, and the other reason is that it"s encodeing Quality is Terrorable compared to some real encoders...If your Files are Mpeg1 you Might not need to Convert them at all because There is a DVD standard that Supports Mpeg1 on DVD..what will Matter is the Resolution of these Mpeg files if they are compatible for DVD..The DVD SIF Standard Calls for Mpeg1/2 files with 352+240/288-Pal Resolution and 48000hz audio which is Basicly the same as VCD accept for the audio frequency..So find out if your Mpeg1 files are that resolution and if they are then all you need to do is Convert the Audio to 48000HZ then use something like Tmpgenc DVD author to author the files to DVD...This way will Retain the Original Video Quality and you will be able to Fit a Lot more files on a DVD, But if your Files aren"t the right resolution I would then useing "Tmpgenc" to encode the Files to DVD Compliant file then author them to DVD, You can use Tmpgenc to convert the audio from your Mpeg files also..When dealing with low resolution Mpeg1 files I find it best to not re-encode them if you can help it because re-encodeing them will just ruin the Video Quality....Cheers

I depends on how complex of a DVD you want to make ,I think the easiest DVD authoring Program to use is Tmpgenc DVD author But it only makes Very Basic DVD"s and you do not get that much controll...With DVD Lab you can make Much more complex DVD"s with Motion menu"s and lots of other features But it only supports One Audio Track and no subtitles but most poeple don"t need these features , for much more complex DVD"s I use something like Sonic DVD producer which supports Multiple audio tracks and subtitles but it is a Very high end authoring program that runs about $4500 US but there are one that cost even more and are more complex like Scenerest but that is what they use to make retail DVD"s...If you need a Link to were you can get one of these programs Just PM Me with your e-mail and I"ll try to help you out...Cheers
