hey guys, i'm obviously new, but i do try and do my own research. i know this is probably covered here somewhere and believe me i've tried. but here goes, i have some video projects that i created using pinnacle studio7 then converted to mpeg2 for output to svcd. this was 2 years ago, i now want to import these projects back into S7 to combine and re-edit. S7 will only recognize AVI2 (so i'm told) so i would like to know if mpeg can be converted to AVI or is it like whitteling your bat into a toothpick and then trying to get your bat back? i've heard of a program called 'canopus'? (i think that's the name) of course i'm under the gun and any help would be super appreciated. i appologize in advance for not finding this on my own. thanks guys, truly - bus
I use Avs Video Converter U can also use WinAvi Or This One hxxp://www.kenwoodtech.com/mpeg-to-avi-converter.htm I would recommened Avs Video Converter works great for me and is fast
slug, thanks for the prompt reply! do you have a recommended site to download. is it freeware, or does it cost dough? i really appreciate it. -bus
since you're going for editing its unwise to go for a lossy codec. quality is compromised here. i would suggest use virtualdub and huffyuv codec
And more, to be more specific, I would suggest the use of DivX multipass of Xvid multipass codec. And only Virtualdub-MPEG2 ( http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/stable/index.html )is able to load MPEG-2 files.
