I read numerous tutorial's and did some googling, and cannot find the answer to this. Can you just take an mpeg2 file, burn it to a DVD and have it work in a standard DVD player? Most tutorials like this one: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/tmpgenc_xpress_basic_guide.cfm don't say what to do once the mpeg2 file is created. I tried burning the mpeg2 file using Nero but my DVD player wouldn't read it, so I imagine something is wrong. I created it using TMPGenc Xpress. I'm sure this is really simple. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
No you can not Just Burn the Mpeg-2 file to DVD and expect it to Play in a Normal DVD Player... The Mpeg-2 files have to be authored to DVD, meaning the Mpeg-2 has to be Formated into the DVD File Structure with any menu"s and Chapters and Other features you may want on your DVD and then after it has Formated it into a "Video_TS" folder it gets Burned to DVD in DVD Video Mode.... A Very simple Program for Putting DVD compliant Mpeg-2 files on to DVD with Basic menu"s and Chapters is "Tmpgenc DVD Author" or if you want to use something that is More advanced and Can make Much Nicer Menu"s and More Complex DVD structures then check out "MediaChance DVDLab Pro".....
