I have mpegs (svcd & vcds) that play on my dvd player when I burn them onto CD-R, but when I try and wack the same mpegs onto a DVD-R my DVD player says unknown disk. Some1 lent me a DVD-R DVD copied movie and that played fine. Im confused! Any help would go down a treat!
Do a search on AVI to VOB & you will undoubtedly find your answer It's all to do with encoding whatever file to MPEG2 (which is DVD compliant) & then converting to VOB/BUP/IFO files for burning in a VIDEO_TS folder
Thx 4 that, I'll start the search now, just one little question..... doesnt this conversion take ages, like 5hours+ ?
hi laurie85 depending on your system, yes it can take that long, or longer, using TMPGEnc.Mainconcepts encoder is a lot faster but costs alot more. These are the two i use but im sure there are more out there, maybe faster and less costly. good luck jim
MainConcept is worth getting IMHO as it is 3 times as qucik as most other encoders , and thats without any loss of Video quality !! Plus using this encoding method you do NOT have to re-mux seperate video & audio streams ... which can often result in out of sync audio (I use MainConcept & highly recommend it)
Thx guys, I have a dream that one day you can just burn and play....one day. Would it be easier/quicker to cut the mpegs to 700mb and put them on CD-Rs? Do you know of any programs that could do this? Thx again.
You can fit 15mins of DVD format onto CD (after encode/convert still) , so MPEG(s) can be split and put onto CD but best being left as VCD/SVCD ... Its really not as hard as you'd think to encode then convert to DVD±R (when you've successfully done it once) !;-) _X_X_X_X_X_[small] Afterdawn Guides: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ Afterdawn Rules: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/6346[/small]
