I am new at this so hang in there with me. I recently backed up one of my dvds. The only choice that I had for extensions was either mpg, avi, wmv, mov extensions. I save it to my hard drive then attempt to retrieve it using my disk burner software...which is Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6. The problem is....is that Roxio does not recognize those extensions!! What do I do??

What did you use to back it up? Program name?

DCMoviez V.5.0...It saves it to my hard drive as one of those files(my choice)but when I use any dvd copy program....it just plain does not recognize it. It is looking for a video_ts folder. I have even tried 1click dvd copy ....which claims that it can read those files....and it doesnt. I am at total loss

Do yourself a favor, get DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter - both freeware. Use Shrink to backup to an ISO and DVD Decrypter will burn it. I've never heard of DCMoviez and haven't bothered with 1click.

There are oodles of alternatives but for free, Shrink and Decrypter are by far the best - better than most commercial software.

    luck-

I have dvd-to-avi and I have similar choices as my codec. I've never seen DCMoviez ... but perhaps it's a similar program. If so, you'll need to convert from avi to dvd. There is a guide.

But, it would be much, much easier to do what RWG suggested. Get Shrink and Decrypter.

Actually....I use DvD shrink for my dvd burns of the ones that I have on hand. Since we have 4 kids...they have ruined several though and that is why I am getting them off the web in the avi, mpg, mpeg formats. DVD shrink does not recognize them...nor does any other software I have that burns Dvds....did this help any?

It is part of a software package that you get with DZMovies V.5.0...http://www.dcmoviez.com.

very interesting site. My first thought when people say they downloaded it off the web, I think piracy. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

The site says the newer version supports dvd to dvd, did you upgrade? Also, what's the policy on downloading a movie and putting it on a dvd?

yea...I was careful...I did a great deal of research before I purchased it. As long as you only get the dvds that you currently own...then you good. That is how the law reads...Anyway...it does say that but all it does is give you a fee dvd burner software. The staple of the program is access to a load of movies....that is it. The movies come in those extensions. I am just trying to figure out how to get it so that my burner/copier programs will copy them to my dvds!

Well if you download the movies that you already own from DC Moviez, and you paid for the program ... I guess your alright. I suggest downloading in avi, since that is what the guide covers.

Last ... downloading movies off the net just seems shady. I would just stick to using Shrink and Decrypter. As you know both are free, and the process is much easier.

Thanks for your help...I will check that out. As for just sticking with the free ware.....that makes sense....but those programs do not convert those extensions. Obviously the be thing would be for me to have those dvds that the kids used as frisbees and burn those. I couldn't be that lucky.

I was just researching DCMoviez and found this website through a Google search. I downloaded DVD Shrink and Decrypter and tried to use it, but it doesn't seem to recognize any files.

Also, this is a great website! So glad I found it.

This is a question sort of related to this thread, i have files that are from my digital camera(Kodak 6320 i believe) and i would like to know how to get them converted so i could put them on either a dvd+r or a cd-r. They are in .mov files. Any help would be appriciated.
