Can DVD Decrypter be used to backup the MS Flight Simulator Discs? I've heard that the 4th disc cannot be copied, the one that's required to be in the computer when playing the game. Thanks for all input.
Nope. DVD Decrypter is made to work with video only so you'll need to use software such as BlindWrite, Alcohol 120% or CloneCD. MS Flight Sim 2004 appears to be SafeDisc 2.90 so it shouldn't be too difficult with the right burner. Here are a couple links to give you an idea of what's involved: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/117498 http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/134052
I've tried everything in these attached threads to no avail. There are no errors in the process until I try to play the game... it says insert disc. I've downloaded the Blindwrite applications but don't really know what to do with them or what they're for? Same thin goes for the Daemon application? I'm looking for guidance about these. Thanks for all help from a true "newbie".
you might need emulation, open Alcohol 120% and off to your left hand side open the Emulation tab, now check all three box's and try your game.
BELOWW IS THE LOG FROM MY COPY USING ALCOHOL AND CHECKING THE 3 BOXES IN EMUALTE MENU. THE GAME IS STILL NOT WORKING??? MAYBE I DIDN'T SET OTHER ITEMS RIGHT OR I WROTE THE DISC TOO FAST (4X). GOD THIS IS GETTING FRUSTRATING. I STILL CAN'T GET IT TO WORK. I UNINSTALLED CLONECD AND THEN COPIED THE IMAGE FROM THE MS FS2004 GAME AGAIN. IT SAVES AS 2 FILES...MS FS_DISC4 741,062 KB FILE TYPE MDF FILE AND MS FS_DISC4 5 KB FILE TYPE MDS FILE. I JUST REALIZED WHILE WRITING THIS I'VE BEEN RECORDING THE IMAGE TO 700 MB CD-R'S SO THEY ARE PROBABLY TOO SMALL? BEFORE THE PROCESS OF RECORDING FINISHES IT ASKS ME TO PUT IN ANOTHER DISK?
Let's lay off the all caps alrighty? You don't need to use another disc. The mdf will sometimes list as larger than 700MB but they aren't that size when burned back to disc. Your problem is that neither of your burners is able to make a working copy of a protected PC game so you're best bet is to use Alcohol 120% and its emulation options.
Why does it ask at the end of the burn to insert another CD-R and what burner would you recommend? My system info is described in the log above.
