i am trying to setup my XP pro machine so that I can run multiple desktops, but not just so I can have different programs running in each, but so I can have different sets of icons on the desktop, such as games on one, and office applications on another, I have seen it done before at an old place of work but do not how it was achieved.

I have tried using Nividia nView and Windows Desktop Management, but niether are capable of doing differents sets of icons on each desktop, I have also tried a few freeware apps with no luck.

    Any ideas?

yeah, its easy. First, plug in a few monitors into your computer. Just right click your desktop and then choose properties. A new window will appear. There will be a few options, choose the one saying "settings". Then (to be honest), i've forgotten what to do =P
your computer should read the monitors and there should be a dropdown box with the title "display". Play around with it from there and you will be able to do what u want. sorry, its been ages since i've done it.

Thanks, but i already knew how to do that, what i'm trying to achieve is getting several desktops on the same monitor, which i can then click to go between.

As i said above I can get the seperate desktops, but none of the utilites i used let you have different shortcuts etc. on the desktop.
