I recently signed up for these forums as to the fact that they indeed helped me quite a bit in the past. I have come across the large file split into multiple .rar files like .r00 .r01 .r02 etc. and has a .sfv file with it. Anyway i had a small question, i know winrar is able to split the large file into these smaller files, yet i am not quite sure how. I was wondering if anyone might be able to throw me info on how to split these files with winrar (and does it create a .sfv file or is there something extra or different you must do to have one?). Basically to make sure i have said things clear ill give an example. I want to turn a 750meg file into about 45 smaller rar files with the math each file should be around 16.6-16.7 megs each i think.
Winrar has an excellent Wizard Button -- click it and follow each step -- on the second page you will be asked if you want a multiple volume and that is where you will specify the total bytes you want in each volumes. -- ! It cant be more simple.
Same strecth of road but different question. THanks by the way on the info on winrar. Now id like to know if there are any other compression agents that could turn a 750 meg file into say something like 50megs to 150megs? I believe the instance i have seen something like this is where a game a friend of mine installed had the sound, music, and such all in a compress .bat file i think and it was small in size yet when it started unpacking it turned the games folder from 60megs to 700 or more megs just by doing that unpacking. sorry if my wording seems to be bad.
