Hi there guys...i'm looking for some software that will allow me to either make music tracks or import existing music tracks i have, and record vocals over it. Could anyone give me an example of some software that would be good for this purpose?
what is your ulitmate goal? Are you looking for some basic audio program, or a professional multi-track editing program? There are basic stereo mixing programs like Adobe Audtition and Sound Forge for under $100, or if you want to set up a good inexpensive DAW (digital audio workstation) the best choice is Pro Tools. It has long been the standard in the music and film industry for audio recording and editing. You can get an MBOX with 2 channels in/out of 24 bit 48k audio with SPDIF, which is an external USB 1.1 powered box. It comes with Pro Tools 7 LE which does up to 32 tracks of audio and 99 midi tracks. It sells for under $500, and is a bargian for what Pro Tools is capable of. Check out more details here: http://digidesign.com/ This may be overkill for you if you are just starting out, but if you get into digital recording and editing, it is defintalely something to look into in the future. edit typo
