I purchased a stick of 512mb ddr pc2100 from ebay and installed it on my computer(emachines T2824 with original 256mb and a samsung pc2700 256mb stick). When I try to start it, I get the following message "WINDOWS CANNOT START BECAUSE FILE \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM IS MISSING OR CORRUPT" When I remove the new memory and reinstall the old sticks, the computer starts up fine. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? Thanks for your help.

being you ran the new ram by itself & got that error then the ram is bad or incompatible with your pc. return it for refund or replacement.
