    Hi Everybody,

Basicly my dvd/cd burner doesn't work. It started after my computer had a major crash, before then every thing worked fine. I sent the computer off to be repaired and ever since it has not worked, i dont no if I havnt installed a driver or something but what ever burning software I use it come up with an error. It was only untill I tried to use Nero 8 to burn it that the error came with a log of burning. So here it is, hopefully it will help :)

The first thing i'd suggest is updating the firmware on the Sony burner; you have version 'BYS2' from Victorian times, well Sep 13 2004 to be precise; there's BYS3, Dated Nov 17 2004 but that's still ancient. You could wring a bit more life out of that old burner by updating it to BYX5, which in effect 'morphs' the burner into a SONY DRU-710A.

Read the first post here carefully and see what you think -

No problem; didn't see much amiss in the Nero log yet but recognised the burner/firmware straight away.
