Hey guys. My friend has an Xbox on the brink. It won't load up any original CD's except for maybe one or two. I'd like to soft mod it so he could at least still get some value from the system. My question is this... If Mechassault doesn't completely load during the dashboard installation, will it fry his machine? If I at least am able to make it to where I'm using the exploit save status, is Linux being downloaded from the Action Replay device or does it still need coding from the Mechassault CD. I just want to make sure it will be safe to do this on his Xbox given the history it has not being able to read genuine CDs properly. Thanks.
You should probably get the laser taken a look at or cleaned. It's fairly easy, It's just like dissasembling your PC. As for the softmodding, no Mech Assault would still be needed. If the james bond game or Splinter Cell game can be loaded on your friend's Xbox then you can use them. -Mike
Thanks, I'll mention the laser cleaning to him. Just to reword my question though. If his Xbox is able to read Mechassault to the point where I am able to perform the Action Replay exploit, that's all the the Xbox needs to read off of the game CD, correct? I just want to make sure that Ndure's exploit doesn't need to keep loading additional files off of the Mechassault game after the exploit, and if it wasn't able to read the CD anymore, would this fry his Xbox? if it can load to the main menu then your fine you just need to be able to load where it says load game save.
Sorry about that, didn't understand as well. Yes if it can reach the SID (Softmod Installer Deluxe) menu then yes it no longer needs to read of the game disc. This is just for triggering the exploit. As you probably know though you'll need to keep the disc in, what with the Xbox being reset back to the menu if you press eject! Though it won't read anymore files off the disc, so no everything should run smoothly. -Mike
yea...the game is no longer needed after you restart your xbox you should keep it just in case you mess up... Also PLZ PLZ make sure you back up your MS and eeprom so that if some thing happens u can uninstall later on if nessasery
