... This summer, my 11 year old granddaughter is going 'down under' as part of the People to People program ... Anybody from New Zealand or Australia have any tips, suggestions etc...
It's been 20 years since I was there, but here is what I enjoyed the most: New Zealand North Island - Rotorua - if you like Yellowstone and seismic activity, geysers, and thermal areas this is one of the most active on earth South Island - Queenstown - absolutely beautiful scenery and atmosphere Milfourd Sound - more breathtaking scenery Australia Kangaroo Island - Flinders Chase Natl Park - a very large island, half of it being national park. See kangaroos, emus, and other wildlife up close and personal Tasmania - from the old prison ruins to the mountainous terrain and parks, I really enjoyed it Great Barrier Reef - Cairns - one of the best snorkeling and dive spots in the world I went to many other places but those are the ones that really stick in my mind even after 20 years time. I avoid the cities and get out and stay in the parks when I can.
