A friend on the net whom I don't see anymore sent me a codec file for which I was able to play movies on my IBM Laptop. I cannot for the life of me remember what it was...however I had to reformat and lost it. When I put in a DVD movie that I had burned, I get a message from WMP that it cannot recognize that format or that my disk might be corrupt. Well it plays just fine on my desktop PC without any problems. Does anyone have any idea which codecs I need? I have been trying for months to find the right codecs and have had no luck. Help please!!
Technically you don't need any codecs; you only need decoders. DVD's use MPEG-2 for video and AC3, DTS, mp2 and LPCM for audio.
Hi Celtic: Do I need to download those programs? I will try anything because I just installed K-Lite Mega pack and that doesnt even work and it was supposed to absolutely be able to play movies. Thanks for your advice, really appreciate it.
